Explaining Three Simple Steps to a Non-Believer

There is a common mentality that one has to believe that something can happen in order for it to become a reality. You’ve heard the saying: “If you believe it, you can achieve it.” I’m often asked how the principles behind the Three Simple Steps can be applied without a belief that they will work.
To those people, I ask: “Did you have to have faith in order to get the life you have now?” Think about it. Where are you? Have you achieved everything you set out to achieve? Is the life you have right at this moment the one you dreamed about when you were a child? You never believed you’d get a life you didn’t want, but here you are.
So why would you have to believe in order to get the life you want in the future? All you have to do is set out with the intention to do something, and then let life take care of the details. Belief is unnecessary.
Once you write down your intentions, you don’t have to believe anything will happen for things to be set into motion. You’ll go about your life, and the energy you’ve created will send the changes your way. The fun is in waiting to see what’s in store for you once you’ve taken that step: to wait for the phone to ring or to meet someone on the street. You won’t know how your intentions will start to play out, but watching as the energy of the world begins to weave its magic is all part of the enjoyment. So you don’t have to do anything. Belief doesn’t have to be part of the equation.
It’s like when you mix the ingredients of a cake. You add the eggs, the milk, the flour and the sugar; then you add the heat. You don’t have to believe those things will become a cake. They will become a cake. If you add an egg to flour and mix the two together, you don’t have cake. Believing they are cake won’t make them so. All things must follow the natural laws of the universe.
Contrary to what many a self-help guru will tell you, believing something will or will not happen doesn’t affect these laws. The laws of physics and the effortless ways of nature don’t need anyone to believe in them. They simply exist and do their work. When you sit down and write out your intentions, you’re creating an energy. You can’t write something without thinking about it, and as you think about, you’re creating energy, which then transmits itself into the universe to draw your desires to you. You don’t have to think about it once you’ve created it. You don’t have to believe, because things have already been set in motion. The universe already knows what to do.
